History and Philosophy of Cosmology Society

ETS

An international scholarly community promoting the history, philosophy, and foundations of cosmology from ancient models of the heavens to contemporary theories of the universe.

A Network of Scholars

The Society brings together historians, philosophers, and physicists who study how human beings understood the cosmos across cultures and centuries.
Through conferences, working groups, and an active publication programme, we foster dialogue between the sciences and the humanities on the deepest questions about the universe.

The Society was created as third sector organization in 2026 as the result of two large projects hosted by the Autonomous University of Barcelona and later on by the University of Milan Statale spanning from 2018 to 2026: PROTEUS – “Paradoxes and Metaphors of Time in Early Universe(s)” funded by the European Research Council (GA 758145) and COSMOS funded by Cariplo Foundation (2021-0567-COSMOS). The Society is non-profit, non-governmental, and values-driven entity.
